8 ball
Privacy Policy
Last updated 26 October 2026
8 ball is a pool game for Apple Watch and iPhone made by Cylen. This policy explains what the app does with your information, which is very little.
What the app collects
Nothing is sent to us. The app has no servers of its own, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party software development kits. We do not collect, store, or sell personal data, and we cannot see anything you do in the app.
Game Center
Online games are played through Apple’s Game Center, which handles matchmaking, turn delivery, and player identity. To play a game with someone, the app stores these in the match on Apple’s servers, where your opponent’s copy of the app reads them:
- Each turn: where the balls were and how each shot was played, so your opponent can watch it.
- The game so far: every turn since the break, so either of you can replay the whole game.
- Your face: the face you made in Customize, or the one your name gives, so your opponent sees it beside your name.
When it is your opponent’s turn, Game Center notifies them with a short message that includes your Game Center name (for example, “Sam played you back!”).
The achievements you earn, and your progress toward them, are reported to Game Center, which shows them on your Game Center profile.
With your permission, the app reads your Game Center friends and recent players so you can choose an opponent. That list is used only to start a game and is not stored.
Game Center’s use of your data is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
Between your watch and your phone
The watch app talks to the iPhone app over Apple’s WatchConnectivity. Your phone relays the watch’s Game Center turns, and your settings (the cloth, room, table, your face, haptics, and sound) and achievements sync to the watch. This stays on your devices.
On your device
The app keeps these in its own storage on your device, and deleting the app deletes them:
- your settings;
- your achievement progress: wins, games played, and the number of games played against each opponent, by their Game Center name;
- the faces your opponents chose, so your games list can show them;
- briefly, a turn you have just taken, so it is not lost if the app closes before it is sent.
The app also writes technical messages, such as which turn was received and how a shot played, to your device’s system log to help diagnose problems. They stay on your device unless you choose to share your device’s logs.
Children
The app has no accounts of its own, chat, purchases, or advertising, and collects no data from anyone, including children.
